July 9, 1937 - August 8, 2012
Dottie made her home in Brooklyn and later Merrick, NY, for 30 years, where she raised her family and taught astrology. Later she and her husband moved to Rock Hall, MD, where they opened and operated Moonlight Bay Inn and Marina.
Dottie loved teaching astrology and mentored many, authoring several books including Learning Disabilities: An Astrological Approach to Successful Living. She was active in the astrological community, served on AFAN's Steering Committee and was dedicated to astrology and astrologers everywhere. When AFAN needed help with the hospitality suite at UAC 2008, she stepped right up despite being legally blind, and helped run that suite that became the stuff of legend. Astrologers networking was what she was all about.
Her Cancer nurturance and sense of vision came shining through when she proposed the idea that AFAN should have a Gatherings program. As she stated so beautifully: "Being an astrologer is a solitary job and it can get pretty lonely. Wouldn't it be wonderful to spend a few hours in an informal setting, with people who speak your language? Our goal is to network astrologers. Take baby steps, we'll start with small neighborhood gatherings, than expand to larger gatherings: regional, national, international, interplanetary, interstellar, galactic.... the only limit is your imagination. If you're an astrologer, a friend of astrology, or you just like looking at the stars, we welcome you to the Network. Don't be lonely anymore."
Her nurturance also found good expression in her love for cooking and decorating which she lavished on her guests at Moonlight Bay Inn, and her children Mark, Rob and Jeff and their families.
We thank you for your caring, Dottie. You will be missed.

"Dorothy was my mentor, my friend and a guiding light for the astrological community on Long Island, and the world, afterwards. She helped bring astrology into its now, prominence. She will continue to share through her new dimension of beingness. Thank you, Dorothy." Arlene Merschat
