(1919-2001)
Olivia Barclay first became interested in astrology in the late
1930s, but did not become immersed in study until 1959. She
studied at the Faculty of Astrology Studies for two years, but found
the psychological approach unsatisfactory. She developed a
greater interest in horary, which led to the development of a qualifying
horary diploma course. She authored Horary Astrology Rediscovered
(1990, Schiffer, Whitford Press, USA), which was given an award
by the Professional Astrologers of America, Inc., and A Study in
Classical Astrology (1990).
As her reputation grew, she began to lecture in the UK and the
US, and lived in the US for awhile. She lectured in many countries
during her 30 year professional career. Most noted for her
remarkable memory and outspoken nature, she was a treasured member
of the astrological community.

One of her students, John Frawley, who gives an unsourced time
of birth as 20:45, 19 Leo rising, states that what he knows of her
“has already passed into legend”. She was responsible for
bringing Lilly’s Christian Astrology back into the astrological
mainstream, and taking a firm stand with those who crossed her path.
She also trained and earned her living in design and painting.
She was married for 25 years and had one daughter. In 1997,
she was diagnosed with cancer, which went into remission. However,
it returned in the spring, 2001. She died peacefully at home
in her cottage in Kent on April 1, 2001.
