IN MEMORIAM

A truly special young astrologer, Jason Davies, 29, was buried today March 5, 2004 in North Wales, UK. Jason passed away February 26 after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma. He is the creator and webmaster of Widget's Astrology World , an excellent astrology resource site that has been freely given to the worldwide astrological community since 1997. In these past seven years, Jason collected, categorized and made available on his site well over 1,000 articles on astrology. An artist at heart, Jason also created a series of astrology fonts, freely available for download. Because Widget's Astrology World was Jason's generous life work, those closest to him intend to see it continue.

I have never been hit harder at the loss of a fellow astrologer. Jason was *the* most open, friendly, and generous fellow webmaster I have ever come across. His website remains a truly selfless service to the global study of astrology, and I believe it shows exactly the kind of person I always knew Jason to be: humble, kind, creative, and humanitarian. God bless this very beautiful man, who is sorely, sorely missed.

From the British Astrologers Association newsletter,Transit, for May 2004, as written by Isabelle Ghaneh in recognition for all that Jason Davies did for both established and aspiring astrologers, and those who just love the field.

Jason Davies: 1974-2004

Jason Davies, the founder of Widgets World, recently passed away from a form of cancer at the terribly young age of 29. Jason was born on October 27, 1974 at 11:30 pm in the town of Newport, in Wales.

As founder of the Internet website Widgets World, Jason generously gave of both himself and his talents to benefit the world of astrology. By amassing the enormous amount of astrological information available on the Internet and making it easy to access and search out, he performed a valuable service second to none.

What made Jason so generous and why was he so interested in astrology? Well, to take a look at his chart (and never having had the pleasure of knowing Jason personally) I can see right off he has Scorpio Sun, Pisces Moon and his rising sign is in Leo. Leos are known for their big hearts and generous spirits, and Pisces Moons are extremely emphatic. Now as a Scorpio Sun, Jason would have been very inclined to dig deeply into any subject he was interested in, astrology being no different than any other.

Saturn is the ruler of his sixth house of day to day work and is located in Cancer in the twelfth house of the unconscious mind. Saturn would show the diligence and painstaking hard work that Jason was willing to put into this vast project. Saturn located in the twelfth house would show he was willing to spend the time alone that he might have needed to accomplish this feat. His interest in esoteric and metaphysical subjects is shown through this Saturn placement, along with his Pisces Moon and Scorpio Sun.

Jupiter in Pisces in the eighth house again echoes the Scorpio/Pisces theme in Jason's chart, making him a very emotional and caring person, I would expect. With a stellium of planets in his fourth house of home and family, it may have been natural for Jason to want a home for all the astrology articles and essays he was able to amass, and the Moon in the ninth shows how far reaching his website eventually became.

Leo rising certainly gives someone the ability to shine among the people and places he or she frequents and I am sure Jason was no exception. His Venus and Mars were conjunct and in mutual reception, with Venus being at 1 degree of Scorpio and Mars at 29 degrees of Libra. These aspects would have primed him to give his whole heart and soul to his loved one. Jason made a very real contribution to the world of astrology, which I hope will be of comfort to his wife, family and friends.
