A House is not always a Home

A HOUSE IS NOT ALWAYS A HOME
or Placidus, or Koch.....
.
Sometimes when we astrologers say HOUSE, we mean real estate!!!

QUESTION:
Assuming that one casts an event chart for the time that one signs a contract agreeing to the price and terms and conditions of a house purchase, what is the meaning of each of the houses? (i.e. basement equals 4th, 10th equals roof, etc.)

ANSWER:
From the offer chart one may use the 10th house as the first house of the property in question, and ascertain some conditions of the property. The offer chart describes the agreement and the contract, but the subject of the contract is the sellers real estate which is the 10th house. (The sellers 4th house by derivative houses) So, draw up the offer chart, then turn it so the 10th house cusp is the first, the 11th house is the 2nd house, etc., and delineate the sellers real estate in this manner.

There are more notes about choosing the "birth time" of a property further down.

THE HOUSES
1st House: Houses personal appearance from the street, the front yard, exterior upkeep, general appearance on the outside
2 H : things that come with the house and are permanently attached: appointments such as shutters, staircases, appliances, light fixtures, etc. The actual value of the property along with 10th house. Safes, where valuables are kept.
3H : neighbors (of course), neighborhood as it affects subject property, but also places where phones are kept, garages, outbuildings.
4H : basement, foundation: also the backyard, the place where home is built, the ground on which it sits, the sinks, cisterns, the kitchen, laundry
5H : family rooms, patios, places of recreation, rec rooms, childrens play areas. Fireplaces are "Leo", thus may be grouped here also.
6H : places where food is prepared, grown,or stored, pantry, work rooms, sewing rooms, servants quarters (what?...don't you have a servant???)
7H: living rooms, or other places in the home where we greet the public, the appearance of the home on the interior, the bedrooms (though in some cases those could come under the 5th as recreational areas!!!!)
8H: plumbing, septic system, bathrooms, wells, the mortgage, the taxes
9H :the library, the office, the study, the guest room
10H : the roof (protection from elements), position of the property in relation to the others in the block (corner properties have some type of attraction for people as a status symbol...this is a very Cardinal thing) and the value in relation to other homes in the neighborhood.Dining rooms.
11H : heating or airconditioning units and especially ductwork; anything that circulates air, heat, or water. The electrical system and those things that operate with electricity.
12H : attic, storage areas, closets, rooms we use for seclusion (may be a bedroom): also I think public water and sewer come under this house

PLANETS:
Sun: type of house:bilevel, two story, or single house versus apartment. The purpose and design of a house will be described by the Sun.
Moon: atmosphere, the "smell", the "feel", mirrors, running water. The New Moon to Full will reflect in a bright, light home, (The brighter and lighter the interior, the closer to the Full Moon) while a waning Moon will be demonstrated by a dark, closed up "feel", heavy drapes, and quiet mood. This will be modified of course by Lunar aspects. Look to the Moon to decide how easy a home will be to keep clean.
Mercury: some of the wiring (what is in the walls, not the electric itself), intercoms, neighbors
Venus: the decorative appeal , carpet, paint, furnishings, attractiveness in general
Mars: mechanical items
Jupiter: the insulation, refrigerators, pantrys
Saturn: doors, windows, walls, framework, the actual structure
Neptune: gases, oils, odors, bugs (termites, ants, etc)
Uranus: the ductwork, some of the wiring(the electrical system itself)
Pluto: sewage disposal system, toilets, wells, dark, damp, hidden places where rot may begin, or water may seep in

WHAT CHART DO I USE?
Just like the birth of a baby buying a house is a long process.

I disagree with using the time the initial contract is signed except in the manner described at the beginning of this article. This may give you some indications if there are hidden defects or deception, but homes require maintenance and age just like humans do, with different needs at different times. Like humans, no home is perfect. I believe you should use the time the settlement is completed to get a clear picture of what YOU will experience with that property over the years.

First of all you make an offer, and when you are notified that the other party has agreed to your offer, you have a contract. Then you go through the mortgage process (unless you are one of those lucky ones who can buy cash).
The offer and acceptance is a term of contract law, and this belongs to the 7th house and Venus. Real estate contracts are commonly referred to as "Agreements". What could be more Venusian and Libran than that!

As you go through the mortgage process, your credit and work history will be examined, which belongs to your 10th house and Saturn. Without stability in the past and demonstrated ability to pay your obligations (all Saturn things!), you will not be approved for a mortgage.
You go through all this to purchase a home (4th house and the Moon) due to a desire to shelter yourself (1st house and Mars).
Do you see how all four Cardinal, Angular Houses are represented here?

To judge how the offer, acceptance, and mortage process will flow, we look to the birth chart of the person buying the house. This is rather like judging how a person will fare during pregnancy.

We can also look at the chart of when the purchase offer was accepted and the 7th house of that chart to see how well the agreement will progress.

Yet we don't use the time a baby was conceived for a birth chart. When we made the offer on the property it was in the "conception" stage.
Once agreed to, the offer became a contract, which eventually culminates in a finalized purchase and settlement.
As we carry out the terms of the "Agreement" we are in the gestation stage, carrying the "baby", so to speak, and waiting for the final hour when that home is ours.
Thus, finally we go to the settlement table, sign all our papers, read miles of fine print, sweat a bit, (all signs of Labor!!), write that big check, and are handed the keys and garage door opener. Then our hands are shaken as we are told, "You've just bought a house!".
THIS is the moment I use for a house purchase. This is the moment that the house is really ours, when we are able to take possession both physically and legally. Use this chart to see how you will fare with your new home.
