Hypoglycemia
General Information:
- Found in less than 1% of the population, this is an old category given to anyone with low blood pressure. Generally, this diagnosis has been given to anyone with low blood sugar; however, if it is correctable by diet, then it is NOT considered to be true hypoglycemia.
- There are forms of hypoglycemia which come about through years of drinking which often interferes with the liver's capability to produce and store glycogen properly. Thus, when the pancreas secretes insulin, the blood sugar drops so drastically that a comatose state will often follow.
- Another form may come from a tumor in the pancreas - this is referred to as fasting hypoglycemia.
- Generally, a good diet corrects hypoglycemia. Anyone with these symptoms should check to see that they are getting sufficient quantities of chromium, magnesium, and glutathione (glutathion is a combination of three amino acids). Check also for a riboflavin deficiency.
Also recommended:
- Magnesium is lowered during stress - it is needed to balance bloodsugar levels.
- Chromium lessens the need for insulin by increasing it's effectiveness.
- Amino Acids - this is another way of looking at how proper your diet is or isn't. Good levels of amino acids are best obtained through proper diet.
- Vitamin C helps in the formation of collagen, among other things and can boost the immune system by boosting energy. Energy that might normally be used up fighting pain.
