Astrology is the study of the patterns of the planets in our solar system as they correlate to human events. The prevalent professional attitude is that "the stars impel, but do not compel". We see the parallels between astrological phenomena and human lives, but no where is it written that we must be influenced by the planets or are destined to react in certain ways. We have free will. We have choices. It is this ability to make personal decisions that lifts us above the animal and makes us human.
To go a step further, astrology is a study of energy patterns and exchanges. The planets remain in their orbits in our solar system by way of the influence they exert upon each other. These influences, whether gravitational, magnetic, or electrical are all some type of energy.
Certainly energy can be either constructive or destructive. Chemotherapy is a chemical energy exchange that cures cancer, but the same drug given in too large a dose can kill. The nuclear power plants provide efficient electricity and serve mankind, but that very same energy can be used for destruction. A doctor may examine a minute drop of blood and from that slide make a diagnosis. In the same way we can examine the horoscope and see energy formations that may be used for good or ill. Astrologers study the patterns of our solar system and from this information make a judgment, and point out the choices we have available.
The astrologer's task is to provide us with insights, to make us aware of cosmic patterns, and to change us in some small way that will improve our lives.
Our bodies have electrical charges, and being over 90% water we are walking conductors. How can anyone deny the influence of the Moon if they've lived near a body of water and watched the tides change? How can we deny the passing seasons as the Earth turns on its axis and the Sun is less or more effective in our part of the world? We stand on our small piece of Earth while it rotates, watching different aspects of the Sun, while the Moon orbits us, and as the other planets dance out their cosmic ballet. We stand as an insignificant speck amidst the grandeur of the universe, yet we are a part of it, and joined to it.
